“For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.” Romans 12:3 (NASB)
How can I be sure of what God wants me to do? This is not as easy a question as it seems. Some of us have inflated opinions of our abilities. We handicap ourselves by being conceited and arrogant. Some of us are too modest. We handicap ourselves by underestimating our abilities. Paul advises each one of us “not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think.” On the other hand, one should not think of himself less highly than he ought to think.
